  • Effective Communication Between Prosecutors and Wildlife Forensic Scientists
  • Price for non-members

This full day workshop will cover topics related to communication between wildlife forensic scientists, their laboratories, and their prosecution teams. We will bring scientists and prosecutors together to discuss efficient and effective ways to communicate about wildlife forensic science, incorporating such topics as “Wildlife Forensic Science for the Prosecutor,” admissibility of evidence, First Principles, ethics and human factors, what science can or cannot do, and ways to ask the appropriate questions and present the science accurately in a court of law. The format will include a combination of presentations, panel discussions, and breakout sessions that will include multiple opportunities for interaction between attendees from the scientific and legal fields.

Our speakers will include representatives from the US Department of Justice, National Association of Attorneys General, and a variety of state, federal, and international wildlife forensic laboratories. This workshop is appropriate for any forensic scientist or member of the legal profession interested in the prosecution of cases related to wildlife trafficking and other wildlife crimes - members of the legal profession are especially welcome! Speaker bios will be posted on the meeting website as the slate is finalized
